What you will do:
This position is responsible for providing direct patient care, assisting clinicians and working with optometry students, residents and other personnel assigned to the Norristown DVCH clinic. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills PREFERRED.
- Complete appropriate patient intake assessment, including patient chief complaint documentation, medical histories, care histories, various vision tests and diagnostic testing.
- Document intake and patient care in the Electronic Health Record.
- Monitor and facilitate patient flow in the clinic, working collaboratively with other clinical and front office staff, schedule special testing, obtain referrals for testing.
- Provide direct patient care services, including: visual field testing, ocular photography, nerve fiber analysis, optical coherence tomography, ultrasonography, vision screenings, contact lens dispensing, and pre-exam data collection.
- Educate patients, answer patient questions, and address concerns about care.
- Work with students to ensure that they are properly trained in selected patient care procedures, techniques and systems.
- Assist in ensuring all equipment is functional and ready for patient care activities.
- Follow up on treatment plans and patient questions, and/or refer patient questions to providers as appropriate
- Manage exam and testing rooms; daily open/close/cleaning, sterilization of instruments, organization, and stocking/placing orders for supplies.
- Assists with translating to Spanish speaking patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, other team members and administration

Requirements
Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience preferred.
Experience: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision, interact with employees at every level and maintain sensitive information in a confidential and discreet manner.
Language: Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)- Preferred
